Ottawa Christian Academy hosting breakfast for vets
Ottawa Christian Academy will host its first Veterans Day breakfast in the auditorium 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 12, at the school, 900 Hitt St., Ottawa.
“It’s not only important for students to honor the sacrifices that those in the military gave for our freedom, but also equally important is for them to have respect for the veterans in their community," said OCA Principal Debra Wenger. “We are teaching them to serve those who’ve served.”
The New Chalet restaurant in Ottawa will be providing the breakfast. The Honor Guard, special speaker Chief Warrant Officer CW4 Randy Hollingsworth of the Illinois Army National Guard, and a student-led performance will be part of the program. The event was open to any veteran and their spouse/family member whether they live in Ottawa or any of the surrounding communities. RSVPs were taken.
